PKR’s Rafizi Ramli paid tribute to Tan Sri Hanafiah Hussain, Malaysia’s first Malay chartered accountant with ICAEW, now hospitalized. Rafizi, a fellow ICAEW member, credits Hanafiah’s trailblazing career—founding the Bumiputra audit firm HRM, leading Felda, Tabung Haji, and FAMA, and serving as UMNO treasurer and Jerai MP—for inspiring his own path.
“I was informed by ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) that Tan Sri Hanafiah Hussain is not in good health,” wrote Rafizi on Facebook.
Despite meeting briefly last year, Rafizi cherishes Hanafiah’s dedication to young accountants. He’s producing videos to share Hanafiah’s stories, aiming to motivate future generations. Rafizi prays for Hanafiah’s recovery, hoping his monumental contributions continue to inspire Malaysia’s youth.
