Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has urged for stronger enforcement and prosecution of fraudulent haj and umrah packages. He said while Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) can report cases, it lacks legal authority to prosecute, highlighting the need for firmer collaboration with police and MOTAC.

Mohd Na’im warned that any TH-licensed company involved in fraud will have its licence revoked. He praised Saudi Arabia’s stringent enforcement in curbing illegal pilgrims. His comments follow reports of 47 Malaysian senior citizens deceived by agents and forced to take risky routes to Makkah.
