Businessman Albert Tei, charged with bribery under Section 16(b)(B) of the MACC Act 2009, pleaded not guilty in Kota Kinabalu court. Accused of bribing Sabah assemblymen Andi Suryady Bandy and Yusof Yacob to secure mineral exploration licenses, Tei insists he’s a whistleblower exposing corruption. Despite cooperating with MACC since October 2024, he regrets being prosecuted alongside alleged bribe-takers. Tei claims to hold more evidence implicating other politicians, including STAR and PBS leaders, and vows to reveal it. He warns that charging whistleblowers could deter others from coming forward.
