Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the government welcomes constructive criticism regarding taxation and electricity tariffs, but it must be based on accurate facts—not slander or insults.

Addressing concerns over electricity bill adjustments, he clarified that public universities are exempt from tariff hikes. Anwar explained that tax and tariff changes aim to ensure fairness by having higher-income groups contribute more while protecting vulnerable citizens. 

He assured that the government remains open to refining policies if legitimate issues arise. The revised SST and new electricity tariff will take effect on July 1, benefiting over 23.6 million domestic users with a progressive rate system.
