The Federal Court in Putrajaya upheld the death sentence of former military pathologist Colonel Dr. R. Kunaseegaran, 62, for the murder of Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais, whose body was found in a cement-filled drum a decade ago. The decision was unanimous, led by Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, affirming the Kuala Lumpur High Court and Court of Appeal rulings. Kunaseegaran withdrew his appeal, accepting the death penalty. He was also ordered to receive 12 cane strokes. Three other appellants, R. Dinishwaran, A.K. Thinesh Kumar, and M. Vishwanath, were acquitted due to insufficient evidence. Another individual, Ravi, was exempted from caning due to his age.
