A 37-year-old oil and gas consultant lost over RM2.7 million to a fraudulent investment scheme promoted via a website called “Nova 88.” Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the victim lodged a report after making 136 transfers to seven accounts between January 2024 and May 2025, following a WhatsApp contact who persuaded him to invest.

The man realized he had been scammed when repeated withdrawal attempts were met with new payment demands. The suspect eventually became unreachable. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. Police urge the public to verify investment platforms before committing funds.
