The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has launched undercover enforcement to catch express and tour bus drivers and passengers who fail to wear seatbelts. JPJ Kedah director Stien Van Lutam said immediate compounds will be issued if violations are visually confirmed.
JPJ Deploys Undercover Ops to Catch Bus Seatbelt Violators
During a recent operation at Alor Setar Toll Plaza, 18 buses were inspected, resulting in 16 compounds and two warnings. Many buses had faulty seatbelts, prompting JPJ to urge operators to maintain proper safety standards.
The campaign follows full enforcement of seatbelt rules under the amended 1978 regulations, with continued collaboration with police and other agencies to ensure passenger safety.
