The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating a Singaporean tycoon suspected of funding bribes linked to a Sabah mining licence corruption scandal, following a viral social media article. MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the probe, stating witnesses will soon be summoned for statements. The investigation involves Datuk Albert Tei and several Sabah UMNO leaders. On June 30, two Sabah assemblymen and a businessman were charged in Kota Kinabalu under the MACC Act 2009 for offering and receiving bribes related to mineral licence approvals.
