The Federal Court in Putrajaya heard the Attorney General’s appeal against a Court of Appeal decision allowing former Prime Minister Najib Razak to pursue a judicial review for house arrest. Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar argued Najib failed to show reasonable diligence in obtaining a purported royal addendum, allegedly issued by the former King on January 29, 2024, permitting house arrest instead of serving his six-year sentence at Kajang Prison. Despite early knowledge of the addendum, Najib’s son, Muhammad Nizar, only secured an unsigned copy from the Pahang palace, with restrictions, just before the appeal. The court’s ruling will determine if Najib’s house arrest bid can proceed.
