Following the mandatory retirements of Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and Court of Appeal President Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, Hasnah – who herself received a six-month service extension beyond her retirement age – will act in both their roles until replacements are appointed. Lawyers describe this as an unprecedented situation under the Courts of Judicature Act. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will appoint the new officeholders on the prime minister’s advice after consulting the Conference of Rulers in two week. Source: FMT
