Thailand’s political leadership faces turmoil as King Vajiralongkorn prepares to swear in a new cabinet following the suspension of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra by the Constitutional Court over alleged ethical misconduct.

Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit briefly served as acting PM before being replaced by Phumtham Wechayachai, now Interior Minister and a Thaksin loyalist. Paetongtarn retains her role as Culture Minister despite being ousted. 

The reshuffle comes amid economic challenges and tense relations with the U.S. and Cambodia. A leaked diplomatic gaffe and cross-border clashes led to a coalition fallout, further weakening Paetongtarn’s position and fueling conservative backlash.
