Former Klang MP Charles Santiago revealed that Yayasan Iltizam Malaysia and the Sustainable Initiative for Community Change (SICC) submitted proposals to the Economy Ministry on June 23 to empower the Indian community under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). The proposals include 40 initiatives and 11 action plans across five pillars: education reform, women and youth development, SME advancement, institutional reform, and governance. Highlighting the urgency of action, Santiago said, “We’re waiting for a response to set a meeting date.” The groups called for compulsory preschool education to tackle dropout rates among Indian students and proposed establishing 40 community labs for women and youth empowerment.
