Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that AirAsia’s US$12.25 billion (RM51.72 billion) agreement with Airbus for 50 A321XLR aircraft will strengthen Malaysia’s aviation sector and help position the country as a leading Asian aviation hub.

The deal includes options for 20 additional jets, with deliveries set by 2028. Anwar, in Paris for an official visit, also witnessed MoUs involving 3P Capital Advisers and French firm Ardian to explore private market investments.
He met with Imerys and Arkema, companies considering expanded operations in Malaysia, which could boost high-skilled employment, technology transfer, and reinforce Malaysia’s bioeconomy and green manufacturing ambitions.
