A caterer responsible for food poisoning 427 students at a private college in Kota Bharu was found operating without Ministry of Health (MOH) registration. Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Husin said the operator, preparing meals from a private residence, was issued a seven-day closure notice starting July 9 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act. Chicken curry is suspected as the cause, pending lab results. All hospitalised students have been discharged. Separately, from January to June, RM249,000 in dengue-related compounds were issued, with further fines under tobacco and food safety laws totalling over RM53,000.
