Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat has dismissed claims that anti-drug efforts in the state are aimed at tarnishing Kelantan’s reputation, stating that his mission is a “jihad” against drugs, not a political agenda.

A proud Kelantan native himself, Yusoff said nearly RM22 million worth of drugs have been seized so far this year—more than triple the RM6.8 million in the same period last year. He emphasised that eradicating drugs will help reduce other crimes. 

With over 14,600 drug offenders recorded between January and July, Yusoff reiterated that the real focus is public safety, not politics or image.
