Former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad said he does not intend to become premier for a third time if Perikatan Nasional (PN) takes over the government. Speaking in Alor Setar on July 17, Mahathir, now 100, said he would only serve as an adviser due to his age but could still contribute with his 80 years of political experience. He emphasised that PN would form a government that listens to the people and resolves issues like poverty. The event was attended by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, his deputy Hamzah Zainudin, and Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
