Veteran journalist A Kadir Jasin said Perikatan Nasional’s planned “Turun Anwar” rally on July 26 will not topple Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim unless he loses majority support in Parliament. Kadir noted that rallies, protests, or marches cannot unseat a PM who maintains parliamentary backing, adding the roadshow is more relevant as preparation for the next general election due by February 2028. However, he said if such rallies weaken Anwar’s support in Dewan Rakyat, resignation could become necessary. Kadir also emphasised that a PM can be replaced anytime through a no-confidence vote or serious misconduct, without waiting for an election.
