Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government would not block a no-confidence vote in Parliament, amid Perikatan Nasional’s calls for his resignation. Speaking to Prime Minister’s Department staff, he revealed instructing Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul to allow such a motion immediately if tabled. “If you have the majority, go ahead,” he said, confident the opposition lacks numbers to topple him. Anwar also defended government policies against criticisms over rising living costs, citing lower electricity bills for most households. PN plans its main “Turun Anwar” rally this Saturday, expecting 300,000 attendees, although police project 10,000-15,000 participants.
