Health Ministry: Kelantan ‘Gay Party’ Was Actually HIV Awareness Programme

The Health Ministry has confirmed that a Kelantan event raided by police last month was actually an HIV awareness programme, not a “gay party” as alleged. Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad affirmed this via X, sharing a statement from Kelantan Health Director Dr Zaini Hussin.

Organised by NGO Sahabat under the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, the event aimed to educate high-risk groups, including MSM and IV drug users. The ministry emphasized collaboration with NGOs for disease prevention. 

Despite the raid, which saw police seize HIV medication and condoms, NGOs maintain the session was professional, offering confidential HIV testing and counselling—not a social gathering.
