Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has publicly called for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to resign as Malaysia’s Prime Minister, citing rising public dissatisfaction. In a strongly worded statement dated July 21, Mahathir claimed Anwar was not elected by the people and questioned the legitimacy of his royal pardon, suggesting it may be invalid. He accused Anwar of repeated dishonesty, broken reform promises, and practicing nepotism and cronyism. Mahathir also alleged that Anwar’s previous attacks on him lacked evidence, whereas Anwar himself is now openly abusing power. He said the public deserves clarity.
