PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) will maintain its alliance with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the next general election (GE16), says BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. However, strategies for subsequent elections will depend on the coalition’s performance. Zahid acknowledged calls for BN to contest GE16 independently but stressed the importance of political stability. “We are willing to forget our different ‘colours’ for the country’s stability,” he said. BN played a key role in forming the unity government after the 2022 general election, which ended in a hung Parliament. PH won 81 seats while BN secured 30, its worst showing to date.
