Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hit back at the opposition’s claims that RON95 fuel prices are too high, dismissing their criticism as politically driven and baseless. Speaking in Muar, he defended the recent six-sen reduction to RM1.99 per litre, calling it a difficult decision due to national financial implications. “They complain about fuel prices here — then go buy it in Singapore or Thailand, where it’s much higher,” Anwar said during the National Month and Jalur Gemilang launch. He argued Malaysia still offers among the lowest petrol prices in the region, while the opposition ignores broader economic realities.
