KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — Former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has relaunched “Ayuh Malaysia,” a social enterprise initiative aimed at creating economic activities for societal benefit, rather than pure profit. Rafizi explained that while goods and services have traditionally been provided by the public and private sectors, Malaysia’s third sector—social enterprises—remains underdeveloped. He emphasized the need for a sustainable society with robust third-sector engagement, especially given the ageing population and government fiscal constraints. “A strong third sector will ease the government’s burden,” he said. Rafizi plans a six-month evaluation of the pilot project’s response and quality of ideas submitted by seven participating social enterprises.
