Prominent X User FreeMalaysian shared the details on social media. The account alleges that the airline industry lobbied for aircraft leases not to be taxed. The user adds that this is a form of moving the goalpost.

Airlines lobbied to be exempted from SST, as the added costs will affect them. But, for the average consumer, this tax will too affect their expenses.

It is understandable that airlines need to keep their operating costs low in order to provide the public with lower fares. But, the question remains on private jets being excluded from SST.

Some joked that they didn’t know the M40s and B40s in this country are consistently leasing private jets to do their travels.
