KUALA LUMPUR: Sebastian Ong, a Chinese Malaysian rallygoer, has voiced concern over the lack of diversity at the recent “Turun Anwar” rally, noting a sharp contrast with the multiracial spirit of past movements like Bersih. Writing from Cheras, Ong said the absence of non-Malays reflects a growing disconnect between the opposition and broader Malaysian society. He attributed this to the opposition’s current leadership, particularly Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, whom many still view as exclusionary. Ong stressed that Malaysia needs an inclusive and credible opposition leader to unite all communities, or risk alienating minority support in future rallies and elections.
