KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into the caning of an effigy resembling Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during the “Turun Anwar” rally last Saturday. Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said the act, caught on video and widely shared online, is being probed under the Sedition Act, Penal Code, Communications and Multimedia Act, and Minor Offences Act. Two men, aged 21 and 47, were arrested, and their devices seized. Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali confirmed that Bersatu division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin is among those arrested. Khalid urged the public to use social media responsibly and avoid inciting unrest.
