It appears that low wages are a common thing in Malaysia. However, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor have reported to be the highest in terms of median salary. Unfortunately for the northern states, the wages there are considerably lower than KL/Selangor.
Netizens shocked at normalised low wages in northern states
An X user claims that their relatives living there say their monthly expenses are around RM1,500. Some add that in Klang Valley, even RM10,000 a month may not be enough to run a household.
Unfortunately, there are those leaving unkind comments regarding the residents of said states. Despite this, there are claims that homes there are significantly more affordable than in Klang Valley.
