The presence of former law minister Zaid Ibrahim at PAS Youth’s “Turun Anwar” rally has sparked speculation about a political shift within PAS and Perikatan Nasional. Writing in Free Malaysia Today, political commentator Rosli Khan said Zaid’s fiery speech and warm reception signalled PAS’s potential openness to moderates. “Zaid represents the kind of moderate professionals Malaysia has long needed,” Rosli wrote, adding that PAS must evolve into a more inclusive, modern movement to expand beyond its East Coast base. “The real question now is: does PAS have the courage to make that big leap?” he asked.
