New: Selling Food in JB? Have a Four-Star Loo Also…

Food outlets in Johor Bahru must now maintain a minimum four-star toilet rating to renew their business licences, announced Mayor Mohd Haffiz Ahmad. The new regulation, affecting 7,435 premises, is part of the “Bersih, Menawan dan Wangi” (Clean, Charming, and Fragrant) campaign to raise public hygiene standards. All food businesses, including 24-hour outlets, must comply. Operators will complete a self-assessment checklist, followed by council inspections. Licences will only be renewed once toilet cleanliness meets requirements. MBJB hopes the move will encourage greater responsibility among business owners and contribute to a cleaner, healthier Johor Bahru city for residents and visitors alike.
