U.S. and Chinese officials concluded two days of constructive trade talks in Stockholm, agreeing to pursue an extension of their 90-day tariff truce. While no breakthroughs were announced, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the meetings fostered mutual respect and understanding.

President Trump will decide whether to extend the truce beyond August 12. Talks also covered rare earth minerals, trade balance, and economic cooperation. China stressed its commitment to stable trade ties, while the U.S. urged China to shift toward consumer-driven growth. Another meeting is expected in 90 days, possibly paving the way for a Trump-Xi summit later this year.
