Muda acting president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz criticised the government for cancelling its plan to implement the High-Value Goods Tax (HVGT), calling it a failure to uphold fair fiscal policies. She argued HVGT was a just system targeting the wealthy by taxing luxury items such as watches, handbags, and accessories. Amira accused the Madani government of hypocrisy for abandoning a tax that could have generated RM700 million in revenue, questioning their commitment to the working class. She also criticised the rapid expansion of the Sales and Services Tax (SST), asking how luxury tax revenues would now be replaced and accounted for.
