The government will invest over RM20 billion under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) for flood mitigation projects aimed at protecting vulnerable communities across the country. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the move is part of a long-term, proactive strategy to combat extreme weather risks intensified by climate change.

Key projects include flood mitigation works in Selangor, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, and Sarawak. These efforts are central to enhancing disaster resilience and ensuring community safety. The initiatives also support Malaysia’s broader disaster risk reduction framework, which includes early warning systems and urban planning reforms under the 13MP.
