Malaysia has successfully secured a reduction in US tariffs on its exports—from 25% to 19%—following nearly three months of negotiations, announced Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

The deal was achieved without compromising Malaysia’s core policy positions or sovereignty, particularly in safeguarding socio-economic stability. Tengku Zafrul praised the outcome as a reflection of Malaysia’s consistent and firm negotiating stance.
The talks, which began on May 6 and concluded on July 31, 2025, also highlight the longstanding strength of Malaysia–US trade ties. The revised rate now aligns Malaysia more closely with other Southeast Asian countries.
