JPJ Issues RM445,800 in Fines to Singapore Vehicles Without VEP Tags
The enforcement, conducted between July 1 and August 3 at land border checkpoints, involved inspections of over 14,000 vehicles. Many offenders claimed they were unaware that enforcement had begun, thinking the government was still in the advocacy phase.
Under Section 66H(7) of the Road Transport Act 1987, violators can face fines up to RM300. JPJ reported that 90% of Singaporean private vehicles already have active VEP tags, with 277,930 issued as of July 31.
