PETALING JAYA, Aug 4 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders say they are open to cooperating with MIC after the party signaled readiness to engage with any group for survival. MIC president SA Vigneswaran acknowledged the party’s weakened position and need for reform. PAS DHPP’s Balachandran welcomed MIC but stressed understanding PN policies to avoid conflicts. Bersatu’s R Sri Sanjeevan noted MIC’s grassroots strength, while MIPP president P Punithan urged caution in interpreting Vigneswaran’s remarks. MIC, a founding Barisan Nasional member, has seen sharp decline since 2008 and now holds only one parliamentary seat. Its future will be decided in October.
