Negeri Sembilan DAP Veterans Club chairperson Lee Kong Hing has apologised after sparking outrage for using “sanitary pad masks” in a political protest. At a press conference in Seremban, Lee claimed he meant no disrespect to women, saying the prop was chosen to symbolise party leaders’ silence. “If what I did was insulting, then I’ll just say sorry lah,” he stated. The protest, aimed at criticising the appointment of an “outsider” senator, drew condemnation from DAP Women leaders for perpetuating menstrual stigma. Lee also acknowledged the support of DAP National Veterans chairperson Lay Hock Peng, who urged caution amid escalating criticism.
