A Malaysian social media user sparked viral debate after criticising the high rental prices of properties near MRT stations in Kuala Lumpur, questioning whether public transport is truly designed for average commuters.

The user highlighted that most homes near MRT lines cost between RM4,000 to RM12,000 monthly, pricing out working-class residents. They noted the irony that affluent neighbourhoods enjoy walkable access to MRT stations, despite residents rarely using public transport. 

The post drew mixed reactions, with some agreeing it reflects deeper urban inequality, while others defended market pricing, saying prime locations naturally cost more due to demand and convenience.
