Deputy Minister and Women chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin has distanced PAS from a controversial remark by Maran PAS Youth leader Salman Al Farisi, who compared women in leadership to “cows” leading a herd. She clarified that his view was personal and not reflective of PAS’ official stance, calling the statement sexist and inappropriate even from a local leader. Salman had argued male leadership aligns with Quranic teachings, based on his cattle farming experience. Mas Ermieyati emphasised that PAS is now more open to women’s roles, citing an increase in female MPs and senators within the party’s ranks.
