Khir Toyo laments Umno is too close to PH now

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — Former Selangor menteri besar Dr Khir Toyo has officially joined Bersatu, effective July 1. Explaining his move, Khir said Umno no longer plays a dominant role in government and criticised it for aligning too closely with Pakatan Harapan. He said Bersatu has clear ambitions to become the dominant party and believes it offers a stronger platform. Khir also revealed that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin tasked him with working alongside Azmin Ali and Noh Omar to recapture Selangor. However, Khir ruled out returning as menteri besar, stating he now aims to guide the next generation.
