DAP’s Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has criticised the Madani government for defending police action in remanding and handcuffing two Sin Chew Daily editors over an April Jalur Gemilang error, calling the response “evasive” and unjust. Lim questioned why similar “flag blunder” cases involving the Education Ministry and a PAS politician did not see comparable treatment, accusing authorities of “bravery against the weak but fear of the strong.” Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said police acted professionally without political interference. Critics, including veteran journalist Datuk A. Kadir Jasin, argued the media’s prompt apology should have sufficed.
