Public criticism has erupted over the federal government’s RM21 million expenditure on Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations in 2024 and 2025 across seven states, fully funded by taxpayers without GLC or private sponsorship. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the cost followed a nationwide format introduced in 2023, contrasting with 2022’s RM11 million Klang Valley-only event. Critics, including outspoken Madani government detractor Jaywalker on X, labelled the spending “wastage,” citing Malaysians’ financial struggles. Supporters of the view argued the funds could have been better used for education aid, while others saw the celebrations as fostering national unity.
