After Zara, a Mother Seeks Son’s Exhumation now, Citing Suspicious Injuries in ROTU Death

The mother of Syamsul Haris Shamsudin, a 22-year-old Johor university student who died during a Reserve Officers Training Unit (ROTU) exercise, has agreed to have his body exhumed, citing suspicions of foul play. Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun said she observed severe bruising, bleeding from the nose and eyes, and wounds resembling gunshot injuries, which she believes contradict official explanations. She called for a full, transparent investigation. Her decision comes as public attention remains on the recent exhumation of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir’s body in Sabah. Police earlier reported no signs of criminal elements, pending final laboratory test results on Syamsul’s death. – Photo: Social Media
