PETALING JAYA, Aug 11 — Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi has accused former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker of instigating MCA’s exit from Barisan Nasional (BN) to advance his own political ambitions. Puad claimed Ti sought to contest in the 16th general election but lost his chances after BN began cooperating with DAP, suggesting Ti hopes for PAS’ backing instead. He said Ti believes PAS might sideline Gerakan in favour of MCA. Ti, however, denied personal motives, insisting his comments on BN being “an empty shell” were aimed at warning against an Umno-DAP political alliance replacing MCA and MIC.
