Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s proposal for a second Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link between Tuas, Singapore, and Iskandar Puteri has been met with support from southwest Johor commuters.
RTS2 Seen as Boost for Iskandar Puteri Development, Analysts Say
Many residents in Gelang Patah, Pontian, and Kulai, who currently rely on crowded buses, say the RTS2 could significantly cut travel time and queues. Announced on July 31 after a meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister, the project aims to complement the first RTS Link opening in 2026.
While analysts see potential for boosting Iskandar Puteri’s development, they caution that last-mile connectivity and passenger demand could impact its feasibility.
