KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 12) — The Federal Court will deliver its decision this Wednesday on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s legal bid to serve the remainder of his SRC International sentence under house arrest, citing an alleged “royal addendum” by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Najib, currently in Kajang Prison, claims the addendum accompanied the January 2024 pardon that reduced his term from 12 to six years and his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.

The High Court dismissed his application in July 2024 for lack of evidence, but the Court of Appeal later allowed the matter to be heard, citing a purported Pahang Royal Household letter. The Attorney General disputes its authenticity, while Najib’s lawyers argue the government must produce the document.
