SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — The High Court will assign a new judicial commissioner to hear Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s RM150 million defamation suit against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over remarks made at the Malaysia Madani Special National Congress. Initially set for hearing from Aug 18–21 before JC Zaharah Hussain, the case will now begin with case management on Aug 18, with hearings on Aug 19–20. Filed in May 2023, Mahathir alleges Anwar accused him of amassing wealth for his family and favouring elites, claims he denies. Anwar counters the suit as politically motivated and divisive ahead of past state elections.
