KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — MPs have proposed tax relief for public transport users to boost ridership to 40% by 2030, as suggested by Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) during the 13th Malaysia Plan debate. Azli Yusof (PH-Shah Alam) called for closing tax gaps, targeted subsidies, and adopting new financing models like PPPs and green sukuk. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (PN-Kemaman) urged creating a National Centre of Excellence for non-radioactive rare earth elements, with R&D and innovation in key sectors. Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (PH-Setiawangsa) proposed consolidating preschool facilities under the Education Ministry and addressing alleged wage violations at Pasti religious preschools.
