Perikatan Nasional Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (Alor Setar) has rejected Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s claims that Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam (PASTI) teachers are unfairly paid RM600–RM700 monthly. Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat during the 13th Malaysia Plan debate, Afnan clarified these were voluntary allowances, not salaries, with teachers joining out of sincerity. He stressed PASTI contributes to early childhood education and noted teachers are covered under i-Saraan KWSP and PERKESO schemes. Afnan suggested Nik Nazmi focus instead on KAFA and imam allowances, questioning his interest in PASTI and offering him free enrolment to observe its operations.
