KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 12) — DAP will mobilise members in Penang to defend a hardware store in Kepala Batas accused of hoisting the Malaysian flag upside down. Secretary-general Anthony Loke said members will distribute 831 Jalur Gemilang as a sign of unity if troublemakers appear, indirectly addressing Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh’s threat to protest at the store. Loke condemned the act as interference with the Attorney-General’s Chambers and an unacceptable form of bullying. He stressed that wisdom and manners should guide responses. Lawyer Zaid Malek also pledged to be present to counter Akmal’s protest with a peaceful stance.
