Between 2023 and March 2025, Malaysia recorded 6,144 teenage pregnancies, according to Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad. Health Ministry data showed 2,737 cases in 2023, 2,752 in 2024, and 655 in early 2025.

Studies since 2015 highlight limited reproductive health education, peer pressure, media influence, and exposure to explicit content as key factors. Poverty, school dropouts, and unemployment further increase risks.
In Parliament, Noraini outlined initiatives including the PEKERTI module on reproductive health, decision-making, and abuse prevention, alongside action plans to address underage marriages and strengthen awareness among teenagers.
